Here's good news for all Bruce Springsteen fans and rock n' roll junkies alike. The Boss' handwritten draft of his 1975 hit "Born to Run" will be up for auction at Sotheby's on December 5. The early working draft of the lyrics was handwritten by the then 24-year old Springsteen in West Long Branch, New Jersey in early 1974. The notes from the auction house say: "Although Springsteen is known to have an intensive drafting process, few manuscripts of 'Born to Run' are available, with the present example being one of only two identified that include the most famous lines in the song. This iteration expresses the darkness that the early versions are known for, but has the distinction of a nearly perfected chorus." The manuscript, autographed and written in blue ink on a single sheet of ruled notebook paper, is one of the collections of Springsteen's former manager and co-producer of the Born to Run album Mike Appel. It is expected to fetch between $70,000 and $100,000, according a pre-sale estimate by Sotheby's. Interested?
